Those wheel arches are less square than I expected.

A buddy from school designed it and he’s cool, so I like it. But this is the worst part:

I don’t like how the side glass (and the brightwork along the top edge) suddenly terminate at the hatch without really flowing into it. The brightwork stops before reaching the following edge of the faux-window piece on the hatch, and the bottom edge of the side glass terminates in a sharp corner at the hatch. GM did the same thing with the Bolt.

Kinja'd!!!

I do like the Acadia, though.

This is what happens when people want trendy, eye catching styling but also want what is more or less a box on wheels.

I don’t hate it. I need to see it in person and not in over edited press photos though before I pass total judgement.

Uhhhhhh... thats different.

I could also see kids passengers playing with those buttons while driving.

I think if anyone was curious about the Equinox design that made Chevy completely redo the styling then the Terrain compared to the Acadia is where your clues are.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Not sure why the Terrain looks as big as or bigger than the Acadia though...

Bingo.

Maybe GM is using GMC to experiment with styling? I’m just now warming up to the looks of the new Acadia.

That’s awful. Why not just go rotary knob like everyone else? That looks so cheap.

I sell cars at a GM dealership and this whole button shifter has me nervous as hell.

I think the plan was to experiment with Chevy, get a bit riskier with GMC, and soften up Cadillac but they went too far with Chevy and pulled back but couldn’t do the same with the Terrain. That’s also why I think the Terrain has that randm weird gear selector...

I mean I had some dick friends play with my manumatic (slap sideways auto) when I first got my Crossfire.

But I think it is a bad way to free up console space.

You’re not doing anything if your foot isn’t on the brake. No more dangerous than a traditional selector in that respect. But it still sucks.

Do the +/- buttons enable selecting low gears? That has to be the least satisfying way to drop into a low gear I’ve ever seen.

Yeah it is definitely tough. What will be interesting is if the buttons will be easier than the Electronic Precision Shift which is the fancy name for shifter that is similar to BMWs and Jeeps.
